Another LOTR analogy comes to mind. The forces of hate that demand submission are spreading and sapping the will of the West. They are in a race against time because they must irretrievably weaken the forces of life and love and creativity before the internal contradictions and hatreds within the forces of death tear them apart. Remember how Sam went into the Tower of Cirith Ungol to rescue Frodo and discovered that the forces of Mordor and the perverted city of Minas Morgul had torn each other apart in an orgy of mutual destruction?
